 Steak Sicilian

 Ingredients

2 Cups Hook to Cook Meat Coating

6-8 Cups of your favorite Spaghetti Sauce

½ Cup Hook to Cook Pre-Dip*

6 oz. Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

1 Cup Water

4 Filet Mignon, about 8 oz. each

1 Cup Flour

Cooking Oil

1 – 16 oz. pkg. Penne Pasta/Mostaccioli, Cooked as directed

 Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350° F.  Heat water in large pot for pasta; add salt and a dash of olive oil.  Cook pasta until desired doneness.
  2. While water is heating and pasta is cooking prepare filets as follows: put flour in medium size paper bag.  Add the steaks and shake to coat.  Shake off excess flour, place on plate.
  3. In shallow dish, mix Pre-Dip* with water using a whisk until smooth.  Coat each steak with Pre-Dip*, making sure all dry surfaces are coated.
  4. In another medium size bowl add the Hook to Cook Meat Coating and coat each steak evenly.
  5. In a large skillet heat oil to 375° F and fry filets until golden brown on both sides (heat enough oil that filets are submersed ½ way).
  6. Filets may be rare after frying depending on thickness, finish filets in oven as follows:
  7. Mix the cooked pasta with all but 1 cup of the spaghetti sauce and place in a baking dish.  Place the fried filets on the pasta and top each steak with the reserved spaghetti sauce and the mozzarella cheese.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven until cheese is melted or filets are cooked to desired doneness.  Serve with warm garlic bread.

*Hook to Cook Pre-Dip when mixed as directed makes a superior adhesion batter forming an intermediate binding layer that produces a healthier entrée by preventing oil/fat absorption.  Pre-Dip also seals in juices/moisture and nutrients, increases adhesion, crispness and prevents blow off during frying.  Pre-Dip will also help food stay crisp longer when kept warm or on the table, and with its superb blend of flour and spice will enhance the flavors of any additional coatings giving you the results of a professional chef.  Pre-Dip is highly recommended to be used with all Hook to Cook Premium Coatings.
