When I'm finely done

  with the mog, I'm

  going to start on my

  chainsaw!

This was a simple and inexpensive mod to improve on passenger heat and defrosting the windshield. I used a plastic dust collector gate valve which fit in the dash where the original defrost deflector was. Then I added some 2" pvc fitting and some pvc pipe. The long horizontal pvc tubes are slit over the entire length of the tube. I slit the tube on a table saw using a carbide blade. This left about a 1/4" gap over the length of the tube for the warm air to flow out. (sorry no pic for slit ). I then made a simple bracket to support the ends of the defroster tubes from some scrap aluminum. The gate valve allows me to shut off the defrost and direct more heat to the foot well of the passenger side. The slit in the long defrost tubes allows the tube a looser fit in the fittings so the tube can be rotated to direct the air flow. Now you can have the air flow from the defrost tubes point toward you for extra heat if your windshield is not fogged up. Since the driver side tube and the passenger side tube are independent this give you more options on directing air flow. This set up also a good hand warmer and a good place to hang you gloves to dry. Non of the fittings are glued so disassemble if easy incase you want to fold down the windshield or remove it for the summer. I did have to move the wiper switch over to a blank switch hole that I had. This is my second winter and I haven't had any problems. I did add 2 short pieces of split pvc to each side (driver side and passenger side) 4 altogether that were about 6" long. These short tube fit over the long tube so you can slide the along the longer tubes to help redirect the air flow where you need it. This also help increase the air flow from the defroster tubes
